Ginaluca Spina Award

BEATE KLINGENBERG,  ALBACHIARA BOFFELLI and ALICE MADONNA (professors at University of Bergamo) submitted a winning project to the GIANLUCA SPINA AWARD for teaching excellence and innovation, funded by the Gianluca Spina Foundation and awarded by the Italian Association of Management Engineering.

The aim of the award is to underline the importance and centrality of the teaching activity and to promote commitment and dedication to teaching, as the primary task of the Management Engineering community. The award is aimed at teaching initiatives that show traits of excellence and innovation, capable of capturing emerging trends in society, in young people, in learning processes, often a consequence of the pervasiveness of technologies, in all life and educational contexts.

The teaching initiative submitted by our team that received the award is entitled “DEVELOPING A SUSTAINABILITY MINDSET IN MANAGEMENT ENGINEERING STUDENTS”.

They used the sustainability mindset indicator as a tool to dynamically adapt the experiential learning cycle of their students, by selecting experiential activities specifically targeted to develop the less developed principles in their students’ sustainability mindset.

The assessment of the sustainability mindset pre- and post-course showed a general development in most of the sustainability mindset principles, and in all the principles that were specifically targeted by the teachers.
